Now first looks are one of my most favorite things to photograph on a wedding day but a close second is all the beautiful details and the joy-filled process of getting ready for the wedding. Filled with energy and excitement, the bridal suite is my first stop when the day begins. Often times, brides don’t realize that aside from your dress, jewelry, and shoes that there are key items to have within the bridal suite when you are getting ready to ensure that your images look amazing and your day runs smoothly.
Details for the Day
When I first started photographing weddings, I would often arrive to start shooting the details of the day, only to find beautiful dresses hung on dry cleaning metal hangers. I would struggle to do everything I could to hide the ugly hanger while sacrificing the ability to get lovely images. Sometimes, I would luck out and have a wooden hanger from the hotel that would suffice, but usually, no such luck. I highly suggest checking out Etsy, BHLDN, or even Amazon. My favorite hangers though, come from BHLDN.
Ring Boxes
Ring boxes are my next recommendation to have not only for the ceremony but also as a great additional detail to your day. Whether it is an heirloom ring pillow that was handmade or a cute vintage box found at an antique store, your options are limitless but our favorite is the Mrs. Box.
Three Things to Have
Lastly, of the three things that make your bridal suite images all the more interesting and pretty, consider what you will wear while you are getting ready. From elegant dressing robes to matching monogrammed shirts there are tons of options to suit the look and feel of your day. By having something cutes with a wide knock or buttons, you are able to easily change into your dress without messing up your hair or makeup.
