Lonesome Valley is a wedding venue located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Cashiers, North Carolina. This venue offers a beautiful, serene backdrop for any wedding or event. I was lucky enough to visit the property while attending the Emergence conference, where we enjoyed dinner at the Canyon Kitchen and a private tour with our friends from Penn Weddings and Jackson Southard Events.

The 800-acre property is much more than a wedding venue, including a spa, a community of homes, a restaurant, a pool, gardens, hiking trails, and even rock climbing. It has something for everyone. The natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains shines through the area with mountain views, waterfalls, and forests.

Canyon Kitchen

This restaurant is on the Lonesome Valley property and features local ingredients with a sophisticated Appalachian style. The building is a barn setting with views of the gardens and Cow Rock Mountain. Their menu offers something for everyone, from Cheerwine braised short ribs to North Carolina Mountain caught trout.

Spending Time in Cashiers

If you find yourself in the area for a destination wedding, there is so much to do and see. The downtown area features shops ranging from antiques, furniture, men’s and women’s apparel, and home décor.

If you need a bite to eat, Cornucopia looks like an old country store but don’t let that fool you. It has incredible food and breathtaking views of the mountains. If you have pizza on your mind, we suggest Slab Town Pizza. They make their dough in-house, hand tossed and cooked to order. These are just a few of the eateries the town has to offer; let’s just say you won’t go hungry visiting Cashiers!

If you want to stay active while you visit, the area features golf courses, hiking trails, waterfalls, and fishing. When it comes to golf, the area offers a few private courses, but High Hampton is a public course that anyone can access, which makes for a stunning round of golf.

The best hiking in the area for beginners is Whiteside Mountain, it is about 2 miles along the rock face, and the views along the way will not disappoint. To cool off, you can visit Silver Run Falls and High Falls on Lake Glenville.
