Here you will find some of the celebrations, special occasions, and projects our team has been honored to document over the past 15 years.
Louisville, Kentucky, is such a beautiful place, rich in history, filled with incredible locations for an engagement session, and is a great city to visit, especially if you love bourbon!
You can’t think of Kentucky without thinking of bourbon. And you can’t come to Louisville and not visit Evan Williams. Evan Williams founded the state’s first commercial distillery, and his methods still live on today, and you can learn more about their process during a tour. Upstairs you can enjoy a flight of bourbons or hand-crafted cocktails at the On3 Bar.
While I was in Louisville for an engagement session, we stopped by with the couple to have a drink and get to know each other.
Another bourbon distillery that is a must-visit is Angel’s Envy Bourbon Distillery tour is a great way to learn about the iconic Kentucky spirit. The distillery came together with three generations of distillers who decided to combine forces and open a modern distillery in the heart of downtown Louisville. Angel’s Envy is set apart as they use aged port barrels and offer other varieties of aged in rum barrels and cask-strength bourbon.
With incredible history, this house is a true local treasure that exemplifies the Richardson Romanesque style architecture. This grand home was created by the famous architect who called Louisville home, Arthur Loomis of the Clark & Loomis firm. You can tour the home and learn more about its past with self-guided and guided tours. It is also a beautiful place for engagement photos which was the perfect backdrop for NAME and NAME’s engagement session.
Another area icon is Churchill Downs, the home of the longest continually running sports event in the United States, the Kentucky Derby! Don’t worry if you visit when horse racing isn’t in season; you can still see and tour the Derby Museum. It is a must-visit location if you are in Louisville.
If you plan on tasting bourbon will need to fuel up beforehand. If you love donuts, you must try North Lime Coffee & Donuts. With two locations in Louisville, you can visit either the Old Lou or Westport Village locations. Check out their donut schedule before you arrive, as they feature rotating flavors that differ with each site.
Sunergos Coffee, if you are a coffee lover, you must visit one of their five locations. Their coffee menu features coffee in all forms, from drip to iced, to experience freshly roasted coffee beans. They also have a new rotation of muffins, cookies, biscuits, and other bakery items made from scratch.
We had such a great time during this Louisville engagement session and exploring the city, and we highly recommend the city for your upcoming session or a quick weekend getaway.
