Last Thursday I had the pleasure of attending and documenting the Grand Opening of the Historic Post Office. I have followed their renovations over the past few months as this beautiful building has been turned into a gem of a wedding venue here in Hampton, Virginia. The event was expertly planned and enjoyed by many future brides and local wedding professionals. From beautifully designed florals to delicious food, it was a great evening.
Originally opening in 1914 as a busy post office for the city of Hampton, this wedding venue served the community as such until 1986. Since then it has been a club, restaurant and most recently a production studio until being transformed into a wedding venue. Seating about 250 it has been restored with beautiful wrought iron and classically clean painted white brick walls.
In the upstairs of the venue, a beautiful and elegant bridal suite awaits complete with couches for lounging while the brides has her makeup done at four station vanity. On the other side of the room sits a cute fireplace and a door leading to the gentleman’s lounge.
Next door to the Bridal Suite is the Gentleman’s Lounge complete with leather couches and my favorite part, a pool table for the guys to play pool after getting ready. While most venues we have photographed have had spaces for the guys to hang out, they very rarely have had something on site for them to do between getting ready and the ceremony. It also provides a great backdrop for bridal party images as well. We can’t wait to share more images of events at the Historic Post Office such as the Reset Workshop being hosted there later this month with the Restart Specialist, Luke and Ashley Photography, and Cinnamon Wolfe Photography.
