Hurricane Season Wedding Advice

Last week on the blog, several local Hampton Roads wedding planners shared their tips and advice for getting through a rainy wedding day or hurricane.  Today Antonia of Antonia Christianson Events is sharing her knowledge of rainy day weddings and hurricanes and it is full of wisdom gleaned from being a seasoned planner.

Plan Your Marriage

It’s crazy to say that “things happen”, but that’s the truth, and remembering the end product is the most important part. As a planner for nearly two decades now, I can truly say, that we have seen things that I thought I would never see, that my team would never see, but those clients that remembered that rain or shine, power or no power, flood or no flood, dream venue or random new location, that they are experiencing one of lives many trials together are the strongest and the most admirable. In the real world, in the “real life world”, things happen, you lose power, your car gets flooded, you get the flu, your world gets rocked, but if your beloved is next to you when those things are happening you feel strength and joy because you know that you are not alone.

It’s crazy that I’m going to share the next bit of truth with you when I make my living as a wedding professional, but spend as much time planning your marriage, as you do your wedding, and remembering the big picture, so that if (or when) things don’t go 100% as planned, you don’t forget the most important part. I love an amazing wedding like the next person, but I love waking up next to my beloved stronger each day because of the trials that we have gone through together.
