Whether you are planning what to wear for your wedding or a 10 year vow renewal, the process can be somewhat similar.  Grab a couple of your best girlfriends, a bottle of champagne, and go have some fun . . right?!

Here is what you need to know before you go:

1. A dress on the rack may look uninviting but once you have it on, you may change your opinion.  Keep an open mind when it comes to buying a dress.
2. A girls day out is fun but consider that the more people you have with you, the more drama you may invite into the mix of things.  Keep it simple and only bring a few trusted gals with you.
3. Consider remixing a family heirloom.  Wedding dresses can be altered or small parts of it used to add a little heritage to a newer dress.
4. The dress doesn’t have to be white.  There are amazing arrays of color now available in bridal gowns from whimsical blush pink to elegant and sultry black.  Not feeling that bold, look into ivory or champagne.

When I first started thinking about what I wanted to wear for our vow renewal, I instantly wanted to pull out my wedding dress and try it on.  I went back and forth for months about pulling it out of the box but the reality is as much as I loved it then, my style and taste have changed.  My husband even weighed in and as always when we get into emotional discussions, he always has something deep and profound to say.  PSA: Grab a tissue!

He reminded me that we are making new memories and celebrating the adventures of the past ten years.  While this is a celebration of our past, it is also a focus on our future and that is where we need to be looking to.

So after I wiped away some tears, I went in the search of a new dress and found the perfect girly dress with the help of Tammy at Janie’s Bridal.  I can’t wait to walk into a brand new chapter with my husband as we have eyes on the future and all the adventures they hold.

So what color shall I wear down the aisle this time?  White, Ivory, or a daring blue or pink?  You will just have to wait until October to find out.
