When I started out as a wedding photographer, I very quickly realized the value of attending styled shoots and the one hosted by Orchestrated Stylized Shoots at Seven Springs Farm in Virginia is the perfect example of that.  I had the pleasure of staying as their guest this weekend and it was incredibly relaxing.  Seven Springs Farm is a 1725 colonial manor house located in Manquin, Virginia that George Washington stayed in frequently.  This over 100 acre property is a beautiful wedding and event space as well as a working heritage farm.  With a classic elegance that is to die for and just the right amount of modern convenience, it is a brides dream venue.

As a brand new photographer, I realized that it was easy to get in a creative rut and loose sight of that spark of inspiration that many of us as creatives value.  As a business owner and artist, I had to learn how to balance the two while staying ahead of new trends and ideas.  I learned very early on that to keep that fire going, I had to do fun and creative projects for myself.  Styled shoots have been the vehicle to allow me to try new ideas or photograph at new and beautiful location while providing a portfolio of images to offer as examples to brides also looking for inspiration as they plan their wedding day.

Since being in business as a photographer, I have attended workshops, hosted styled shoots, and most recently attended the Spirited shoot hosted by Chelsea LaVere of Orchestrated Stylized Shoots.  I have to say that of the ones that I have been to, this one has set the bar pretty high for any future creative endeavors that I attend or host.  I left Manquin feeling refueled and ready to jump into preparation for the 2016 and 2017 wedding season.
