I met Karen through Kari of
Two River Events and was thrilled to get to work with her on a recent styled shoot in Virginia Beach this past summer. Since then we have had fun hanging out at our local Tuesdays Together meetings. We connected over our shared issues with curly hair and humidity as well as a love for products that give back.
Karen is the owner of Aleen Floral Design and her work ethic and eye for design are superb. She truly knows where the wedding trends are going and has some of the freshest flowers I have ever seen. These beautiful blooms sat in my truck most of the day before they were photographed and then lasted in a vase for a week after that before they even started to droop.
Karen is part of a daughter/ mother floral design team that thrive on bringing their client’s vision to life through creative color, floral texture, unique containers, and various natural elements. They run a floral design studio operating out of Williamsburg VA, serving Charlottesville to Hampton, VA. I knew the general look that I wanted for this styled shoot but they elevated it to a whole other level with hand painted gold containers and beautiful ribbon details. They truly take the time to get to know each couple and as they build a relationship with them it shapes their designs to reflect each brides unique personalities.
When I asked Karen to tell me a little more about her business, this is what she told me:
“The idea of Aleen Floral Design was planted during a very hot San Diego summer. I (Karen) was an impressionable sixteen year old working for my aunt as a floral assistant. The world of colorful blooms, ribbon, glassware, and candles was new and exciting. Although my responsibilities at the time were basic, I was completely enamored with the floral design field by the end of the season.
After I obtained a business undergraduate degree and completed floral design school in 2006, Aleen Floral Design was established as a wedding and event studio. Our name is inherited from my dear grandmother, Irmaleen. Her love of color and beauty along with her joy of making every event special inspires the personal touches you will experience with us. With the concept and name deeply rooted in family, it was only natural to invite my mom, Jan Roa, to join this exciting journey of bringing innovative style, elegant beauty, and transient trends to clients’ weddings and special events.
We are a floral design studio for the fine art bride and groom. Growing in relationship with our clients through customer service is the hallmark of our design studio. We book weddings on a limited basis (no more than 2 per weekend) in order to give our clients excellent service and our full attention for their special day.”
